Joe-Pye Weed - Eutrochium maculatum
**Monarch Favorite**
Eutrochium maculatum, also known as Spotted Joe Pye Weed, is a perennial wildflower native to Michigan and the UP.
Plant reaches 5 feet tall and flowers from June to August with a large, showy, rose-colored cluster of flowers. These huge flowers offer abundant resources to bees and butterflies, even humminbirds.
Joe Pye Weed prefers full sun to partial shade, medium to wet soil and will grow in muck, clay or loam. Spreads by rhizome, enthusiasically under ideal conditions, but is kept in check with a bit of competition. Pairs well with Cutleaf Coneflower, Flat-topped Aster, and Canada Anenome. This is a must-have for a butterfly or pollinator garden.
