Golden Alexander - Zizia aurea
Zizia aurea, or Golden Alexander, is a perennial wildflower native to Michigan and the UP. It grows 2 to 3 feet tall, and blooms early, usually June, with a yellow cluster of blossoms popular with pollinators, especially butterflies. Golden Alexander is even a host plant for the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly.
Golden Alexander prefers dappled shade and moist soil, but will tolerate full sun and medium soil, including loam, clay, and sandy loam.
