Aster, Sky Blue - Symphyotrichum oolentangiense

Sumphyotrichum oolentangiense, also known as Sky Blue Aster, is a perennial wildflower native to southern Michigan. Plant reaches 3 feet tall and flowers from August to October with a blue blossom. It prefers full sun to partial shade, medium to dry soil and will grow in clay, loam or sand. Best aster for sunny, dry  locations. Sky Blue Aster is one of the important late season blooms that fuels Monarchs on migration, bees finishing their breeding cycle, and local butterflies who overwinter as adults right here in the UP.
