A few days ago we were anxiously scanning flats of dirt, looking for rootlets poking out of seeds or hints of green. Now those flats are carpeted with seedlings, all wanting to be transplanted into deeper dirt so they can develop the extensive roots characteristic of native plants. These root systems give native plants some of their best features - resistance to drought, ability to absorb and store runoff from rain, and strong roots that help soil hold firm

against erosion.
But there are - so - many seedlings. Taking orders now for pick-up in May!
